
Stop off at Matera
Heading for via Ridola: a wonderful view of the church front of the marvellous San Francesco d'Assisi. A walk through the Sasso Barisano (antique area of Matera, partly inhabited and partly undergoing reconstruction).
Passing under the stone archway one arrives in the area surrounding the Roman cathedral of the Madonna della Bruno (1270 a.d.).
Explanations and eventual visits to the internal portion are available where one can view the famous frescoes, a marvellous column, the nativity scene situated on the left transept as well as an extraordinary ‘ligneo’ choir.
After the visit, one may stroll though Sassi Barisano until one reaches the famous flight of steps.
Arrival in piazza San Pietro Caveoso, beautiful, thanks to it Byzantine church as well as a breathtaking view of the gravines.
Heading further outwards the Sasso Caveoso (the most ancient area of Matera, now abandoned but currently being restored).
After one arrives at "Casa Grotta" (non obligatory entrance fee - euro 1,50), one of last houses to be inhabited in the Sasso Caveoso, where one can see how life was (not too long ago) in this incredible homestead.
After the visit, head towards "Madonna de Idris", one of the most famous and most visited Rupestrian churches in the whole of Matera (non obligatory entrance). Lastly, a pleasant stroll towards Pascoli Square.
Meeting point: at the “Trulliland” centre or at the adherent Tourist structure with an additional charge of euros 15,00 per person for inferior distance of 30kms.
Notes: the bookings will be effected in the adherent tourist structure and will be confirmed to the attainment of the least number of participants of 5 people. In case of missed attainment, the relative quota of a group of 5 people, can be applied also for adherent individual groups, from 1 to 4 people.
During the tour the guide will suggest you some restaurants where will be possible to have an eventual pause lunch (not included in the price).
